Netanyahu Sparks Global Outrage: UN Representatives Walk Out in Protest as Israeli PM Refuses Ceasefire
Netanyahu Addresses UN General Assembly, Refuses to Accept Ceasefire
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, amidst rising tensions in the Middle East.
Regarding the ongoing attacks on neighboring Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Netanyahu stated, ”As long as Hezbollah chooses the path of war, Israel has no choice.” He showed no intention of accepting the ceasefire that the United States and other countries are calling for.
Netanyahu also discussed the fight against the Islamist group Hamas, which has resulted in over 40,000 deaths in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that Hamas will continue to arm and attack Israel, justifying the continuation of military operations.
Furthermore, Netanyahu spent a significant amount of time criticizing Iran, which supports both Hezbollah and Hamas. He strongly warned Iran, saying, “If they attack us, we will attack them too.”
During Netanyahu’s speech, representatives from various countries present in the chamber rose from their seats and left in protest against Israel’s actions.
Prior to Netanyahu’s speech, Slovenian Prime Minister Golob addressed the assembly, rapping on the podium and appealing, “Prime Minister Netanyahu, stop this war now.” The chamber responded with loud applause.
