During Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to New York, a member of the accompanying delegation threatened Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, hinting at the possibility of his assassination, according to Hebrew media reports.
The member said: “If Hezbollah doesn’t get the message by killing its senior officers, it will get it the other way.”
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation revealed that mediators, in the context of a proposal by the United States and France for a 21-day ceasefire, reached an agreement with Netanyahu that stipulated that he publicly welcome the plan upon his arrival in New York, thus giving a “green light” to negotiations.
However, Netanyahu did not address the proposal upon his arrival, instead withdrawing from it.
The commission noted that Netanyahu initially leaned toward negotiating a cease-fire in Lebanon “to give political legitimacy to continue the operation,” but that he backed down under intense pressure from his partners in the government.
Although the United States and its allies proposed a 21-day truce between Hezbollah and Israel, Netanyahu confirmed in his statement on Thursday that the crackdown on Hezbollah continues, in light of growing opposition within his government to the idea. a truce
