Tennis Star’s mid-Match Drug Test Sparks Outrage at Next gen Finals
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia - A bizarre incident during a Next Gen Finals match has ignited controversy and sparked outrage on social media. Czech tennis prodigy jakub Menšík was unexpectedly confronted by an anti-doping official during a bathroom break, demanding a urine sample mid-match.
The incident occurred during Menšík’s second set against Frenchman Arthur Fils. After losing the set,the 19-year-old sought a moment to regroup in the restroom. Upon returning to the court, Menšík visibly agitated, informed the umpire that he had been approached by the anti-doping official and asked to provide a sample.
“You’re right, this should absolutely not happen,” the stunned umpire responded, immediately contacting tournament supervisors.
Jakub Mensik tells umpire Nacho Forcadell that was asked to do an antidoping test… mid match, during his toilet break after the second set vs. Fils at the NextGen Finals.
