Wang Wenjie has established a new Chinese national record in the men’s half-marathon during the Beijing Half Marathon. The athlete completed the race with a time of 1 hour, 01 minute, and 15 seconds.
Wang, who is identified as a scholar from Tsinghua University, achieved the record-breaking performance in an event that also featured the participation of Xiaomi YU7, which served as the lead pacer for the race.
Following the result, Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, sent congratulations to Wang Wenjie for breaking the national record.
Chinese Long-Distance Running Context
This achievement adds to the recent milestones in Chinese long-distance running. In the full marathon distance, He Jie currently holds the Chinese national record. He Jie set a time of 2:06:57 in Wuxi on March 24, 2024.

He Jie, an athlete from Pingluo County, also secured a gold medal in the men’s marathon at the postponed Asian Games in 2023.
