RTBF has announced that Sébastien Pierret will present the 13:00 news bulletin on La Une this summer, stepping in as a temporary joker for the midday journal during the annual summer break of the regular presenters.
Starting from June 29, Pierret will take over the presentation of the JT 13h00, providing coverage during the period when Ophélie Fontana and Anne-Sophie Depauw are on leave. The move confirms his growing role within the public broadcaster’s information service, where he has been a familiar voice for over a decade.
A journalist originally from Neufchâteau, Pierret began his career at RTBF after winning the Grandeur Nature competition on VivaCité in 2010. He has since worked across the broadcaster’s platforms, presenting national news bulletins on both VivaCité and La Une during the 7:00 and 9:00 slots.
For the past five years, he has co-hosted the weekly debate show On n’a pas fini d’en parler with Patrick Weber, a programme that combines analysis, testimonies, and chronicles around a central guest. His dual background in journalism and international relations has shaped his approach to news presentation, emphasizing clarity and directness.
Pierret described the shift to the 13:00 slot as a significant change in rhythm, noting that he usually takes a rest after his morning show. “En rentrant de ma matinale, je faisais habituellement une petite sieste de remise en forme à 13h00. A cette heure-là, désormais, je serai à l’antenne,” he said in an interview with RTBF.
He emphasized his commitment to delivering essential information in a way that resonates with viewers. “Je veux faire passer une information qui va à l’essentiel, en parlant à l’oreille de nos téléspectateurs,” he stated, reflecting his desire to maintain a close connection with the audience.
