New Flights: Isles of Scilly & Alderney Routes Announced
New Twin Otter Aircraft bolsters Regional Connectivity
Expanding Service to Cornwall, Channel Islands, and Isles of Scilly
A new DHC6-300 Twin Otter aircraft has joined the fleet of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, considerably enhancing its capacity to serve key regional routes. The aircraft arrived after a 4,000-mile journey from the rocky Mountains in Canada, marking the first time the group has taken delivery of a brand-new plane in over a decade.
The Twin otter will operate flights to Alderney from Guernsey and Southampton, in collaboration with Aurigny, and will also provide crucial links to the Isles of Scilly from Land’s End,Newquay, and Exeter airports. The aircraft will feature Aurigny’s livery.
Investment Signals Confidence in regional Aviation
The addition of this aircraft underscores the steamship Group’s commitment to reliable regional air services and demonstrates a strong belief in the long-term viability of aviation within the institution. Skybus Managing director Jonathan Hinkles described the arrival as an “exciting milestone,” emphasizing the positive impact on the communities served.
The new Twin Otter is scheduled to enter service in November, providing increased resilience and capacity during peak travel seasons. This investment is especially important for maintaining connectivity to the Isles of Scilly, a destination heavily reliant on air travel.
