Chilevisión’s morning show Contigo en la mañana faces significant changes following the departure of long-time host Julio César Rodríguez, who left the network to join Mega in April 2026. The exit has triggered internal restructuring as the channel seeks to maintain the program’s continuity while adapting to new leadership under its recent ownership.
According to reports from Que Te Lo Digo cited by Tiempox, the new owners of Chilevisión are considering Julián Elfenbein as a potential replacement for Rodríguez. Journalist Luis Sandoval stated that sources close to Elfenbein confirmed he has not denied the possibility of joining the morning show, noting, “He has a contract, a salary, and is also a beloved figure with the audience.” Sandoval added that Elfenbein’s arrival could happen “in the coming weeks or months” as part of broader cost-saving measures aimed at reducing expenses amid organizational changes.
However, other sources indicate an internal solution is being prioritized. Tecache.cl reported on March 8, 2026, that Eduardo de la Iglesia, who had been co-hosting the show alongside Andrea Arístegui following Rodríguez’s exit, would assume a more central role. The outlet confirmed that de la Iglesia would now share leading hosting duties with Arístegui, a move intended to preserve stability while avoiding external hires.
This internal transition was further supported by Página 7, which noted that Chilevisión had already identified a preferred candidate to complete the presenting trio. The outlet explained that after Rodríguez’s departure, the show operated with only two hosts—de la Iglesia and Arístegui—and the network began searching for a third member to restore the original format, with indications that a decision had already been made internally.
Despite these developments, the future of other Chilevisión programs remains uncertain. Tiempox mentioned that the fate of Cuánto Vale el Show, hosted by Julián Elfenbein, is unclear amid the restructuring, particularly as Fran García-Huidobro is set to take temporary sole control of the estelar program Primer Plano while the network finalizes its broader reorganization.
The changes reflect a wider shift at Chilevisión under new ownership, which has implemented cost-containment strategies across its programming. As reported, these measures include evaluating talent contracts and exploring internal promotions to minimize expenses, with external hires like Elfenbein being weighed against the financial and logistical benefits of promoting existing staff such as de la Iglesia.
