Lobos Face Boise State in Mountain West Showdown

Sunday, February 8, 2026 – The New Mexico Lobos men’s basketball team will host the Boise State Broncos Saturday night at The Pit in a key Mountain West Conference matchup. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. MT and will be televised on CBS Sports Network, with a simultaneous broadcast on the Lobo Radio Network.

The Lobos (18-5, 9-3 MW) are looking to rebound after Wednesday’s loss to Utah State, which ended UNM’s impressive 23-game home winning streak. Despite the setback, New Mexico has won eight of its last ten games and remains a strong contender in the Mountain West.

Boise State (14-9, 6-6 MW) has also been playing well recently, having won five of its last six games after a challenging start to conference play. The Broncos have evened their Mountain West record and are aiming to continue their upward trajectory.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are currently available for purchase at GoLobos.com/tickets. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the first 2,000 fans entering through the main entrance will receive a roller banner as a giveaway.

A key player to watch for the Lobos is freshman Jake Hall, who currently leads the Mountain West Conference with 70 three-pointers made. Hall’s performance also places him as the national leader in three-pointers among all freshmen.

The Broncos are led by Drew Fielder, who is averaging 13.3 points per game. Boise State’s recent success has been built on a balanced attack and improved defensive play.

The all-time series between New Mexico and Boise State is tied at 15-15. The Lobos hold a 9-4 advantage in games played at The Pit. However, the Broncos won the first meeting between the two teams this season, securing a 62-53 victory in Boise on December 30.

Following Saturday’s game, the Lobos will embark on their first Mountain West Conference road trip of the season, traveling to Phoenix to face Grand Canyon University on Wednesday. That game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. MT tip-off and will be broadcast on FS1.

The matchup against Boise State represents a crucial opportunity for the Lobos to regain momentum and solidify their position in the Mountain West standings. With both teams playing at a high level, fans can expect a competitive and exciting contest at The Pit.

Recent results indicate a competitive Mountain West Conference. Boise State defeated New Mexico in the Mountain West Tournament in 2025, according to reports from the Idaho Statesman and KRQE. The Lobos were eliminated from the tournament by the Broncos with a final score of 69-72. Kob.com also reported on the Lobo’s loss to Boise State in the Mountain West men’s basketball tournament.
