New ‘Mortuary Nails’ Service: Derry Nail Tech Prepares Deceased for Their Final Farewell
Nail Technician Offers Unique Service for the Deceased
Natasha Kealey, a nail technician from Derry, has introduced a service called ‘Mortuary Nails’ to help families prepare their deceased loved ones for their wakes. She aims to ensure the deceased look their best by offering nail services at home or at funeral homes.
Kealey expressed that while some may find this service odd or morbid, she believes it provides a meaningful way for families to honor their loved ones. “How many times have you said to a loved one, ‘Don’t let anyone see me dead without my nails, hair or lashes done?’” she asked.
She shared her personal motivation: “If I ever passed, I would hope someone could make me look my best just one more time before I leave for the afterlife.”
Kealey trained as a nail technician in 2012 and later worked as a care assistant. Her experience in caregiving inspired her to fill this unique need. She recalled a moment when she did her grandmother’s nails after her passing, which sparked the idea to help others in a similar situation.
Since announcing her service on social media, Kealey has received positive feedback. Families have even begun to leave her instructions on preferred nail colors for when their time comes. She plans to coordinate with local funeral homes to offer this intimate service.
By providing this final touch, Kealey hopes to help families find peace and comfort during a difficult time.
