Taco Time: Popular Taco Chains Expanding Across the U.S.

Beyond mainstays like Chipotle and Taco Bell, several regional taco chains are rapidly expanding their
presence across the United States. These fast-casual and fast-food Mexican restaurants are poised too become
more visible nationwide.
One such chain is District Taco, which began as a food cart in Rosslyn, Va., in 2009. District taco now
operates multiple locations across Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. According to QSR,
the chain plans further expansion into the Northeast and Florida in 2025,with recent openings in Norfolk,Va.,
and Wayne and Clark,N.J.

Osiris Hoil, co-founder and CEO of District Taco, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s growth potential.
“This year was challenging for our industry, but I am proud of what we were able to accomplish and more excited
than ever about our potential,” Hoil said. “We believe in our concept. We have more great things planned, and
I can’t wait to share everything with our guests next year.”
Del Taco, the second-largest Mexican quick-service restaurant, is also in expansion mode. The chain recently
signed an agreement for 10 new units in the Indianapolis, Ind., metropolitan area, targeting markets including
Bloomington, Bedford, and Columbus. In 2023, Del Taco secured commitments for 52 new locations in Florida.
New restaurants have also opened in mississippi, with further commitments in Texas, Montana, and Wyoming.

taco John’s,based in Wyoming,is also expanding.The quick-service Mexican chain is focusing on franchise
growth to increase its national footprint.

Consumers can anticipate seeing these taco chains, including District Taco, Del Taco, and Taco John’s, appear
in more locations across the U.S., offering a wider variety of Mexican food options.
