New Telescope for Mont-Cosmos Observatory
Quebec Observatory Gets Major Tech Upgrade Thanks too Private Donation
St-elzéar-de-Beauce, quebec – The Observatoire du Mont-Cosmos, a research and observation center jointly operated by Laval University and the Corporation de l’Observatoire du Mont-Cosmos, has received a significant technological boost thanks to a generous donation from ABB.
the observatory, established in 1971, had been facing challenges keeping up with advancements in astronomical technology. ABB’s donation has provided a state-of-the-art Planewave CDK telescope, equipped with the latest technology, including remote control capabilities.
“This new telescope is a game-changer for our students and researchers,” said [Insert Name and Title of a Representative from Laval University or the Observatory]. “It will allow us to conduct cutting-edge research and provide our students with access to world-class equipment.”
The donation was part of a multi-phase project. Phase one focused on acquiring the new telescope, while phase two saw the purchase of a new dome, made possible by another generous donor. A fundraising campaign is currently underway for phase three, which will focus on equipping the telescope with specialized instruments and acquiring a weather station.
These upgrades will ultimately provide students with access to modern equipment both on-site and remotely, enhancing the quality of observations for their astrophysics projects.[Image of the new telescope at the observatory]
The modernization of the Observatoire du Mont-Cosmos is a testament to the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing scientific research and education.
