Messenger Symphony Orchestra
The Messenger symphony Orchestra will perform at 7 p.m. at the Jesús Obrero Parish, located at Cra. 10 # 22-109, Barrio Obrero.
Founded June 13, 2003, the Messenger Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit association recognized for its innovative use of symphonic music to promote peace and awareness. Guided by the motto “Transforming lives with music,” the Messenger Foundation of Esperanza fosters an habitat where individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs can connect, promoting nonviolence.
The orchestra has performed at venues such as the Enrique Buenaventura Municipal Theater and the Beethoven Room of Fine Arts. The orchestra’s influence extends beyond Cali through its involvement in the Batuta Youth Orchestras network and the participation of its members in international programs in Europe and the United States. Six students previously received scholarships for summer study at the Suzuki Institute in Colorado.
Olga Liliana Nader Cardona, director, stated, “Classical music plays a crucial role in cultural enrichment and social cohesion of the city…Cali has integrated classical music as a tool to promote artistic education and promote peaceful coexistence among its inhabitants. In this context, the classical music festival has established itself as an emblematic event.”
Loyola Group – Orchestra and Choir
The Loyola Group – Orchestra and Choir will also perform at 7 p.m. at the Enrique Buenaventura Municipal Theater,located at Cra. 5 # 6-64.
The Loyola Group, comprised of professional musicians from the University of Valle, the IPC, and the Antonio María Valencia Conservatory, was formed in the early 2000s to honor St. Ignatius of Loyola. The group has since become a fixture in Cali’s sacred and lyrical music scene, performing at vital events and accompanying Eucharist at the votive temple of the Sacred Heart of jesus.
Under the direction of founders Sonia Mary Molina and Martha Liliana Hurtado, the Loyola Group continues to promote music as a spiritual and cultural expression, collaborating with regional musicians to present sacred works that resonate with local traditions.
Relo ceccato, director of the Loyola Group, said, “It is a very important occasion for the group to be able to participate and show our artistic work in a cultural event of great impact such as the Classical Music Festival of the Mayor’s office of Cali.”
