New York Comedy Festival Celebrates 20 Years of Laughter and Legacy

A special event took place at Gracie Mansion in New York City on Thursday night to mark the 20-year legacy of the New York Comedy Festival. The celebration featured Caroline Hirsch, the festival’s founder and owner, along with Mayor Eric Adams, comedians, and other special guests.

Finalists of “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up,” the city’s top annual comedy competition, also attended the event. Mayor Adams honored Hirsch, who is known for running “Caroline’s on Broadway,” with a proclamation. He recognized her for starting the festival in 2004 as a way to help the city recover after 9/11.

The New York Comedy Festival has since expanded significantly, showcasing over 200 comedians and featuring more than 100 shows at various venues throughout all five boroughs. The festival began on Thursday, November 7, and will continue until Sunday, November 17.
