New York Rangers Assign Players to AHL Hartford Wolf Pack
New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury assigned five players to the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack, adjusting the organization’s roster ahead of the upcoming professional hockey season, according to club announcements.
The latest transactions send defenseman Jaroslav Chmelaø alongside forwards Jaroslav Chmelaø, Adam Sýkora, and Kalle Väisänen, plus defensemen Jackson Dorrington and Case McCarthy to Hartford, as reported by OurSports Central.
Roster Moves Impacting Hartford Wolf Pack
The group heading to Hartford brings a mix of international experience and collegiate development to the AHL affiliate’s training camp. Sýkora, a 21-year-old native of Piestany, Slovakia, skated in 71 games for the Wolf Pack during the 2024–25 season, recording a career-high nine goals, 21 assists, and 30 points to finish fifth on the team in scoring, according to OurSports Central. He was selected by the Rangers in the second round, 63rd overall, in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
Chmelaø, 22, appeared in 71 games with Hartford last season, putting up 29 points on 12 goals and 17 assists to finish sixth in club scoring, per OurSports Central records. The Nove Mesto nad Metuji, Czechia native was drafted 144th overall in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the Rangers. Fellow 22-year-old forward Kalle Väisänen joins the Wolf Pack after playing 48 games with Liiga club Ilves Tampere, where he scored nine points along with five playoff appearances, according to OurSports Central. The Kotka, Finland native was picked 106th overall in the fourth round of the 2021 draft.
Defensive Additions Join Training Camp
On the blue line, Jackson Dorrington joins Hartford after wrapping up his collegiate career at Northeastern University with a career-high 15 points in 37 games, followed by nine games and two points with the Wolf Pack last season, according to OurSports Central. The North Reading, Massachusetts native was originally selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round of the 2022 draft before being acquired by the Rangers on January 31, 2025.
Case McCarthy, 24, split time last season between the ECHL’s Bloomington Bison, where he notched seven points in 19 games, and Hartford, where he dressed in 16 games and recorded one assist, as reported by OurSports Central. The Troy, New York native was drafted 118th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2019 and signed with the Wolf Pack on April 16, 2024.
Following these assignments, the Hartford Wolf Pack training camp roster stands at 26 players, consisting of 15 forwards, nine defensemen, and two goaltenders, according to OurSports Central.
