Spanish authorities are investigating the death of a newborn baby girl whose dismembered remains were found at a waste treatment plant near Madrid. The infant, believed to be only five days old, was confirmed to have been born alive, according to medical examiners.
The grim discovery has prompted an urgent search for the baby’s mother.Investigators believe the body was disposed of in the Vallecas neighborhood,close to the M-30 highway and Vallecas bridge,before arriving at the Loeches waste facility on Dec. 12.
DNA analysis indicates the newborn baby was of Latin American or subtropical descent. The Civil Guard has appealed to the public for assistance, asking residents of Puente de Vallecas to report any information about pregnant immigrant women who resided in the area late last year.
Authorities suspect the mother, estimated to be around 40 years old, planned the infanticide. A Civil guard spokesperson emphasized the need for public cooperation to fully clarify the circumstances of this violent crime.
“The investigations are still open, wich is why citizen collaboration is requested for the total clarification of the criminal act,” the spokesperson said. ”Anyone who could have any information of interest on the matter, contact the Civil Guard.”
In a similar case last year, a woman in Paris was arrested after her newborn baby was found dismembered. Brenda Aguero, a nurse in Argentina, recently received a life sentence for murdering five newborns, a case echoing the crimes of British nurse Lucy Letby.
