A Familiar Territory and a New Chapter
Carroll’s decision to join Dagenham & Redbridge brings him back to the East London area, a place he knows well from his spells with West Ham United. Speaking about his new role, Carroll expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m really excited to get started with Dagenham. My kids thought I was signing for Chelsea – they’ll be in for a shock.” He highlighted the personal significance of the location, adding, “It’s a fantastic location and close to my kids, they will be able to come and see me play.”
Reflecting on his recent time in France, Carroll stated, “I really enjoyed my time in Bordeaux but it’s time for me to get settled with my family. I’m hoping my kids will bring their friends to see me play.”
Embracing a Dual Role
Not ready to hang up his boots, Carroll is eager to embrace a dual role at the club. “I didn’t want to finish playing football and I’m really excited to get involved in the leadership side and be a player,” he explained. Drawing on his extensive experience, he believes he can make a notable contribution: “I’ve got experience in seeing how clubs are run, of all levels. I think I can add value.”
Dagenham & Redbridge Under New Ownership
The declaration of Carroll’s arrival coincides with significant news for Dagenham & Redbridge, as the club has confirmed an agreement for its sale to a consortium of prominent Qatari investors. This consortium has acquired 100 per cent ownership of the club.
Dagenham & Redbridge celebrated their new star with considerable fanfare on social media, declaring: “It’s not every day that a club can announce a new investor, a new kit and a new star striker all in the same day, but this isn’t just anyone. Andy Carroll is a Dagger!”.
A New Era for the Daggers
Interim chairman Youseph Al Sharif is part of the new ownership group, alongside former Daggers captain Anwar Uddin. Uddin shared his excitement about returning to the club: “I consider it an absolute priviledge to return to the club after such a memorable spell as a player. I’m genuinely excited to reconnect with the fans and everyone associated with Dagenham and redbridge, and to play a part in helping the club move firmly in the right direction.”
