Low Birth Rate and Aging Society Committee Policy Debate
The highest satisfaction policy is
‘Marriage tax credit’ selected

Young people in their 20s and 30s requested increased compensation for colleagues when using the system to reduce working hours during childcare.

At the policy debate held by the Low Birth Rate and Aging Society Committee (low senior level) on the 11th, the opinions of young people were presented. Members of the ‘National WE Association’, which consists of unmarried youth in their 20s and 30s, newlyweds without children, and those preparing for pregnancy, attended the discussion.

Bomi Lee said, “Compensation for colleagues is important in relation to shortening working hours during the child-rearing period, but since the current amount (200,000 won per month) is low, it would be helpful if there were other incentives such as an increase in the amount or vacation.” Sora Han said, “There are many good policies in the field of supporting work-family balance, but I think it would be important to increase effectiveness and change the social atmosphere by making them mandatory rather than recommendations.”

Among the low birth rate policies, the policies with the highest satisfaction were also presented. In the field of marriage, the ‘new special tax credit for marriage’, which applies up to 1 million won for a married couple, was selected as the best policy. Participants evaluated that “the level of perceived support is high due to direct and universal support during the wedding period, when various expenses such as wedding hall reservations and housing preparation are incurred.”

In the housing support field, the ‘relaxation of income requirements for rental deposit loans for newlyweds (KRW 75 million → KRW 100 million)’ received favorable reviews, and in the field of pregnancy, childbirth, and infertility treatment support, the policy of ‘expanding support for fertility testing for all men and women aged 25-49’ was selected. Done. In the field of support for work-family balance, the ‘increase in childcare leave benefits’, which increased from 1.5 million won per month to 2.5 million won per month, was selected as the best policy.

Joo Hyeong-hwan, Vice Chairman of the Low-ranking Committee, said, “In line with changing circumstances such as the recent increase in the age of employment and marriage, we will continue to discover and promote policies that reflect voices from the field, such as expanding the age of policy support and expanding the scale of support, through population emergency response meetings held every month. “I’m going out,” he said.
