New Jeans Fandom Takes Legal Action Against Malicious Posts
The fandom of New Jeans, known as ‘Team Barneys’, has begun legal action against harmful online posts about the group. On October 14, the team announced the launch of a reporting site called “Protect Newsines”. This site allows fans to report malicious content regarding the group members.
Team Barneys stated that they plan to file criminal complaints after reviewing various harmful posts and comments. They have identified approximately 7,000 offensive posts linked to users spreading false information and defamation. The team is confident that those responsible will face legal consequences.
In response to these issues, Team Barneys is developing an AI monitoring system to detect malicious content more effectively. They also called on New Jeans’ agency, Adore, to address a breach of an exclusivity agreement. On October 13, New Jeans sent Adore a letter demanding action within 14 days. Failure to respond will lead to a dispute to terminate the exclusivity agreement.
New Jeans expressed their concerns over the misuse of their name in media reports and unauthorized use of photos and videos. They emphasized the need for corrections following statements made during a government audit.
In addition to the legal disputes, members of New Jeans aim to ensure their rights are respected within their contracts. They have repeatedly voiced their demands for minimal interference from Adore and better communication regarding their management.
The situation highlights ongoing conflicts within the music industry, as New Jeans seeks to navigate issues with management while maintaining their artistic integrity. Team Barneys remains committed to protecting the members and ensuring their concerns are taken seriously.
