Warhorse Studios is actively developing a new open-world role-playing game set in the Kingdom Come universe alongside a separate Middle-earth project, according to statements from the studio and its parent company Embracer.
The announcement of a new entry in the Kingdom Come franchise generated initial uncertainty among fans following digital trademark discussions and studio disclosures. According to coverage by GamesRadar, public confusion arose because initial announcements referred to a new Kingdom Come adventure rather than explicitly confirming a video game format. Parent company Embracer quickly clarified that the project is indeed a traditional video game, though questions remained regarding its genre and scale.
To clear up the confusion, Warhorse PR lead Tobias Stolz-Zwilling confirmed the title’s format during a community stream hosted on the official Warhorse Twitter account.
You can expect two open-world RPGs. One is a Kingdom Come open-world RPG, the other one is a Middle-Earth open-world RPG. Both of them are coming.

Leadership Changes Across Warhorse Projects
Studio leadership roles have shifted to accommodate the concurrent development of both open-world titles. Stolz-Zwilling revealed that Prokop Jirsa, who worked as a designer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, is taking over as creative lead for the Kingdom Come franchise. This transition follows studio co-founder Daniel Vávra shifting focus toward a previously announced movie or television show adaptation.
Meanwhile, studio veteran and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 design director Viktor Bocan will head the Lord of the Rings team at Warhorse. Despite managing two major initiatives, the studio maintains a relatively small staff size while undertaking both projects simultaneously, as noted in GamesRadar’s reporting.
Title Adjustments and Projected Release Windows
GamesRadar highlights that the word ‘Deliverance’ appears to be omitted from the new game’s title, suggesting it may function as a spin-off rather than a direct narrative continuation of Henry’s story from the previous games. The project could potentially feature an entirely new protagonist. Regarding the timeline, Embracer previously indicated that if development proceeds according to plan, the new Kingdom Come game will launch during the next fiscal year, which spans from April 2027 to March 2028.
