Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. is setting his sights on the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States, aiming to lead his new team, Al Hilal, to victory on American soil.
In a recent interview with French channel RMC Sport, Neymar expressed his excitement about his move to Saudi Arabia and his determination to return to peak form.
“I am happy in Saudi Arabia,” Neymar said. “The level of football here is very high, and many foreign players who come here are surprised by what they find.”
The Brazilian forward, who joined Al Hilal in the summer of 2023 after a highly publicized departure from Paris Saint-Germain, emphasized the importance of the Club World Cup as a key goal for both him and the club.
“Now my priority is to recover well and to play matches again,” Neymar stated. “I have set the Club World Cup as my goal because it is vital for the club.”
Neymar’s decision to leave PSG, where he had spent six seasons, came after what he described as a period of unhappiness and a lack of appreciation from the club’s management.
“I decided to go to Al Hilal after the management and the coach did not know. Paris Saint-Germain required my effort,” Neymar revealed. “I felt that I was no longer happy ther.”
He added that Al Hilal’s extraordinary presentation, coupled with the chance to learn about Saudi culture, convinced him to make the move.
“I was impressed by Al Hilal’s presentation, and I learned about the club’s history, Saudi culture, and my family and I are happy to live in Saudi Arabia,” Neymar said.
Looking ahead, Neymar is also focused on securing a spot on Brazil’s national team for the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
“I want to play in the World Cup, and I’m focused on it,” Neymar said. “That’s my medium-term goal, and to achieve it, I must go back to full preparation with Al Hilal.”
With his sights set on both club and international glory, Neymar’s journey with Al Hilal promises to be a captivating one, culminating in a potential showdown on American soil in 2025.
