The incident centers around a mischievous call placed by Jacks Wolbrick, the 21-year-old son of the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator. The call targeted Shedeur Sanders, son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, while he awaited the NFL draft.
Sanders was contacted on April 26 by an individual claiming to be the general manager of the New Orleans Saints. Though,this was later revealed to be a prank orchestrated by jacks Wolbrick,who reportedly obtained Sanders’ contact information from his father’s iPad. The phone used for the call belonged to a friend of the younger Wolbrick.
Wolbrick’s Apology
Jeff Wolbrick addressed the situation at a press conference, offering an apology to the Sanders family. “My behavior that has not protected confidential information is no excuse,” Wolbrick stated. He also indicated that there are ”no plans to respect and appeal to the NFL Secretariat.” The Wolbrick family has stated their intention to engage in community volunteer work.
Draft Outcome
Following the prank call, Shedeur Sanders was selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 144th overall pick in the draft. sanders, a highly touted quarterback prospect, had been projected by some analysts as a potential first-round selection.
