The news comes after speculation surrounding Iginla’s absence from Canada’s World Junior Championship training camp. General Manager Bill Armstrong confirmed the surgery, stating, “Tij’s health is our top priority, and we fully support his recovery.”
Iginla, the sixth overall pick in the recent NHL draft, was having a strong season with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League. In 22 games, he tallied 14 goals and 18 assists. Salt Lake City, UT – Fresh off being drafted sixth overall by the Utah Hockey franchise, 18-year-old phenom Tij iginla’s promising season has been cut tragically short.
Iginla,who was tearing up the Western Hockey League with the Kelowna Rockets,went under the knife for successful hip surgery earlier this week,effectively ending his junior career for the year.
We spoke exclusively with Dr. Samuel Pierce, the renowned orthopedic surgeon who performed the procedure.
“Tij was experiencing notable discomfort in his hip that was hindering his performance,” Dr. Pierce explained. “This surgery was necessary to address the underlying issue and ensure a full recovery for his long-term athletic career.
while this is undoubtedly a setback for both Iginla and the Rockets, Dr.pierce remains optimistic.
