Nick Candy, the honorary treasurer of Reform UK and a major donor to the party, has sold his London mansion, Providence House, for a reported £275 million, potentially marking the most expensive single house sale in London’s history. The sale price exceeds the previous record of £210 million paid in 2020 for a Hyde Park mansion owned by the family of Chinese property developer Hui Ka Yan.
The property developer declined to comment on the transaction, first reported by Bloomberg. Providence House, located in the Chelsea district within the grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital, features a lake and a swimming pool. The Grade II-listed mansion was previously known as Gordon House.
Record-Breaking Sale and Political Connections
Candy’s decision to sell comes as he plays an increasingly prominent role in fundraising for Reform UK. He donated approximately £1 million to the party last year and is actively involved in attracting wealthy individuals to the UK through a proposed residency scheme offering a £250,000 fee for 10 years of residency and a special tax regime. This plan has been dubbed a “billionaires’ bonanza” by the Labour party.
He was seen alongside Nigel Farage last year as Reform announced the plan. Candy defected from the Conservative party to join Reform in 2024.
Property Details and Previous Ownership
Providence House sits on two acres of land that once housed the residence of Britain’s first prime minister, Robert Walpole. The mansion features original Georgian details, according to social media posts from Candy’s design company. The property received multiple offers, though it was never formally marketed for sale.

Land Registry records indicate that the current owner is Providence House LLP, a partnership controlled by Candy. His estranged wife, Holly Valance, the former pop singer and actor, is also a member of the partnership. First Abu Dhabi Bank holds a charge against the property’s title.
Recent Activity and Past Events
The mansion served as the location for a fundraising event for Donald Trump in 2024, attended by the former US president’s son, Donald Trump Jr.
Candy, along with his brother Christian, previously developed One Hyde Park in London, known for its luxury apartments selling for tens of millions of pounds.
Market Context and Comparable Sales
The £275 million sale price significantly surpasses recent high-end property transactions in London. The most expensive London home sold last year was a £41 million mansion purchased by Charles Lorenceau, founder of private equity firm Ace & Co. Globally, the priciest property sale was a home in Hong Kong, which sold for £245 million in 2017.
Bloomberg reported the sale price as exceeding £270 million, while other sources, including The Independent and The Telegraph, reported figures around £270 million. The Guardian reported £275 million.
The identity of the buyer remains undisclosed.
