Nick Cannon Opens Up About Narcissistic Personality Disorder Diagnosis and Mental Health Journey

Nick Cannon recently spoke about his diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder in an interview with People. He expressed his ongoing journey with mental health and his desire for self-improvement. Although Cannon was previously diagnosed with ADHD and faced challenges with dyslexia, he recognized traits of being a neurodivergent individual in himself.

He emphasized the importance of mental health and therapy, stating, “I need help. Show me.” Cannon shared that he aims to set an example for others while also working on his healing process. He has researched narcissism, describing how he has taken the power away from the label by understanding it.

Narcissistic personality disorder includes symptoms like an inflated sense of self-importance, a need for admiration, and difficulty empathizing with others, according to the Mayo Clinic. Cannon revealed his diagnosis on his podcast, Counsel Culture, affirming that he identifies with many markers of the disorder.

Cannon is also a father of 12 children. This year, his two-year-old son Zillion was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Cannon and Zillion’s mother, Abby De La Rosa, celebrated their son’s unique qualities, expressing gratitude for his vibrant spirit. They shared this news on social media, encouraging acceptance and compassion for families affected by autism.

Nick Cannon has a large family, sharing twins with Mariah Carey, three children with Brittany Bell, a child with Bre Tiesi, and a daughter with Alyssa Scott. His son Zen passed away from brain cancer at a young age.
