Nick Cannon Reveals Narcissistic Personality Disorder Diagnosis: Embracing Mental Health
Nick Cannon has discussed his recent diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder. In an interview with People, he shared his feelings about mental health. Cannon, 44, said he has always wanted to be tested for it and has undergone various assessments.
He revealed a history of diagnoses, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and dyslexia. Cannon identifies as a neurodivergent individual and believes in the importance of mental health and therapy. He emphasized the need for healing and support, stating, “I just embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way.”
Cannon explained that he was clinically diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder and resonates with many of its characteristics. He has turned the term “narcissism” into a learning opportunity for himself. Cannon stated, “I’ve taken all the power away from the term narcissism because I’ve researched it and I understand it.”
In addition to his diagnosis, Cannon shared that his two-year-old son, Zillion, was diagnosed with autism this year. He and Zillion’s mother, Abby De La Rosa, celebrated their son’s unique qualities and urged acceptance and compassion for families affected by autism.
Cannon’s family includes 12 children. He shares twins, Moroccan and Monroe, with ex-wife Mariah Carey, and several other children with different partners. He also faced the loss of his infant son, Zen, to brain cancer.
