Nicki Minaj Reacts to Mass Layoffs at ⁣Warner Music Group

Nicki Minaj seems to be delighted by the major changes‌ taking place across the music industry, especially among her competitors. Cardi B’s record‌ label, Atlantic Records, is undergoing ⁤a significant restructuring, with longtime executives leaving ⁤the ⁤conglomerate.

As part of the restructuring, Atlantic Records boss Julie Greenwald and 300 Entertainment CEO Kevin Liles are among those departing. Nicki Minaj took to X ⁢(formerly⁤ Twitter) to comment on the mass departure ‌of members from the⁢ group.

“Attention fired execs and A&Rs: Don’t be upset. UPS is hiring. Also, submit your resume at #HeavyOnIt,” she wrote, referencing her own record label, which she launched last year.

Nicki Minaj appeared‌ to be enjoying the mass layoffs, uploading a GIF titled “Loser.” She also added:⁢ “They ‍wanted an empty stadium so bad⁢ (laughing emoji). ‌It’s horrible to be obsessed ⁢with me while all your friends are getting fired.”

According to Billboard, the layoffs across Warner Music Group’s various ‌labels are expected to affect between 150 and 175 employees, including several senior executives at Atlantic.

A note from WMG CEO Robert ⁣Kinkle ‌reads: “I want to thank everyone at Atlantic,‌ 300 and Elektra for their hard work, passion and creativity. In particular, I want to thank those who⁤ are ⁣leaving us.

“You have left an indelible mark on ‍this company and the careers of the incredible artists you have championed. Words are inadequate in this situation, but we will forever be grateful for all your contributions and accomplishments over the years.”

Nicki Minaj’s issues with Atlantic may stem from ⁢a claim that the label ⁤is hostile to Cardi B since 2018. Lady Leshurr, a British rapper, was offered a big‌ record deal ⁢with the label if she dissed Young⁣ Money Star.

Appearing⁣ on a⁤ podcast ‍in 2021, Leshurr said: “The first offer was a huge, unbelievable amount of money. I’ve ‌never‌ seen that kind of money. A quarter of a million pounds. ⁤They offered me a record deal with Atlantic, and they kept trying to get me to do a diss track about⁤ Nicki Minaj.

“At the time, I ‍didn’t know Nicki Minaj personally. We hadn’t spoken or anything like that. I⁣ knew she was coming out, ⁢I had seen‌ her journey, and I thought she was⁤ amazing.”

She added: “I’m not the type of⁤ person who would just ⁣randomly drag down what other women are doing. That would be too embarrassing for me.⁣ (…) I felt it in my stomach and I knew it⁢ wasn’t the right idea. ⁣I said no.”
