“I literally just called my team and said, ‘I think people forgot I’m funny,’” Nash-betts said during The Hollywood Reporter’s Drama Actress Roundtable. “Every role I get, I’m crying. I’m falling out. I’m perturbed. I’m a funny girl too, so I’m out here in the streets trying to remind people.”
Nash-Betts, who is set to appear in “Grotesquerie,” expressed uncertainty about having a defined “type” anymore, given her varied roles. She reflected on her diverse career, from the outrageous “Reno 911!” to the serious “Jeffrey Dahmer,” noting the difficulty in defining what a Niecy Nash-Betts role looks like today.
