Niger State Community Leaders Arrested in Borehole theft

Abdullahi Inuwa,a community leader,along with Adamu Ibrahim and Isyaku Tanko,face charges after allegedly stealing a motorized solar borehole in Niger state. The Minna Chief Magistrate Court remanded the three men in custody.
The borehole, valued at ₦5 million, was part of a government initiative to combat water scarcity in the Shanu area of Chanchaga Local Government. Authorities allege the borehole was vandalized and sold to a scavenger for ₦950,000.
The Niger State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad initiated the inquiry following a tip. A fourth suspect, Daddy Jamilu, remains at large. Police Prosecutor Bello Mohammed told the court the investigation is ongoing.
Inuwa, ibrahim, and tanko are charged with criminal conspiracy, mischief, theft, and criminal misappropriation under Sections 97, 327, 286, and 309 of the Penal Code. they pleaded not guilty.
