Nikki Bella: WWE Raw Match Finish Explained
Nikki Bella Explains “awkward” Rack Attack Reversion on Raw, Addresses Seven-Year Layoff
WWE Hall of famer Nikki Bella has shed light on the surprising finish to her recent Monday Night Raw match, where she secured her first singles victory on the red brand in nearly seven years. Bella revealed that a powerful surge of “insane” muscle memory lead her to accidentally revert to the original iteration of her signature Rack Attack finisher, a move she had to abandon following career-altering neck surgery.
Nikki Bella Details “Awkward” Match Finish and Muscle Memory
Following her victory over Chelsea Green,Nikki Bella appeared on “Raw Recap” to dissect the closing moments of the bout. She explained that after a seven-year hiatus from singles competition on Raw, her body instinctively defaulted to the move that ultimately necessitated the end of her previous in-ring career.
“What’s crazy is everyone kept telling me backstage ‘it’s going to be like riding an old bike.’ Well, yeah, it was like riding such an old bike that I went and put Chelsea up in my old Rack Attack that broke my neck,” Bella shared in a recap video. “What was weird is I haven’t hit that as 2016. So it was weird that I naturally turned her and put her up. And the slight second I go, ’this is what broke my neck.’… We have these moments where we’re not perfect. Still got the victory, and that is what counts.”
Managing Expectations After a Seven-Year Absence and Motherhood
Bella also candidly discussed her mindset entering her first singles match on Raw as 2018. She acknowledged the meaningful challenges of returning to the ring after such an extended layoff, compounded by becoming a mother, and admitted she didn’t expect perfection.
“I knew I wasn’t gonna be an IYO SKY, I wasn’t gonna be a Rhea Ripley… But what I did know going in there is, was give it your best,” she stated. “It’s been seven years. You’ve had a baby. You haven’t been in that ring. And, you know, people don’t understand how hard it is to be in there. Wrestling conditioning is different than anything… So I was very blown up, but I gave it my all.”
Despite any perceived ring rust, Nikki Bella’s triumphant return marked a significant milestone. Her celebration, though, was abruptly interrupted by an attack from Chelsea Green’s associates, Alba Fyre and Piper Niven. The situation took an unexpected turn with the surprising arrival of Stephanie Vaquer, who intervened to halt the assault. The segment concluded with Bella and Vaquer forming an unforeseen alliance, setting the stage for future storylines.
