A Russian national, identified as Kutina, has found herself in a complex‍ situation in India, seeking asylum due to a series of personal losses and a contentious custody dispute⁢ with⁣ her⁣ ex-husband. ‍Kutina, who has been living ⁤in India for several years, detailed her struggles, including the recent death of her ⁣son and the challenging living conditions she currently⁣ faces.

Financial Independence and Family Support

Kutina⁣ explained her financial situation,⁣ stating, ⁤”I earn money through all these activities. And if I don’t have any work, if I can’t find anyone who needs what I can offer, then my brother, my ‍father,‍ or even my son helps me. So we always have enough money ⁣for what we need.” Her income streams include creating ⁢art and music videos, and also occasional teaching‍ and babysitting. This self-sufficiency, coupled with familial support, highlights⁤ her resilience amidst her personal ⁣hardships.

Reasons for Not Returning to Russia

When questioned about her decision⁢ not to return to Russia, Kutina cited “many complicated reasons.” She elaborated on the ⁢profound personal losses she has⁢ endured, ⁤including the death of her son and several other close⁤ individuals. The ongoing process of dealing with grief, administrative paperwork, ⁣and other⁣ related issues has made a return to ⁣her home country unfeasible.

A Deep Affection⁤ for India

Kutina revealed that‍ she had traveled to four other countries before returning to⁢ India. Her decision to stay ⁣in India‍ stems from a deep love for the country, its environment, and its peopel. She confirmed that ⁤she is now in contact with‍ the Russian Embassy, which is providing assistance to her family.

current Living Conditions

Responding to concerns about her current well-being, Kutina described her living situation as “uncomfortable.” She stated, “It’s dirty, there’s no privacy,⁢ and we get only plain‍ rice to eat. Many of our belongings were taken, including⁢ the ashes of my son who passed away nine months ago.” This account paints a stark picture of the difficulties she is facing.

Ex-Husband Seeks Shared Custody

Adding to Kutina’s challenges, her ex-husband, an Israeli citizen named Dror Goldstein, is seeking shared custody⁣ of their daughters. Goldstein expressed⁢ his desire to be an active father‍ in his daughters’ lives, ⁤stating, “I just want to ⁣be able to see my daughters a few times a week and take care of them, too.”

Concerns Over Contact

Goldstein voiced ⁣his concern that if the daughters ⁤were to move‍ to Russia, maintaining contact with them would become significantly more challenging. He expressed a preference for them to remain⁣ in India. Goldstein, who spends approximately six months a year in Goa,mentioned that he and Kutina‍ had ⁢been living separately for the ⁢past‍ couple of years. He‍ lost touch with ‍his daughters when ⁣Kutina left Goa with them a few months prior.

A Difficult Encounter

Goldstein⁤ recounted finding Kutina and their daughters⁤ on a beach in Gokarna, but Kutina reportedly refused ⁢him access to the children, ⁢citing their separation. Goldstein⁢ and Kutina reportedly met in Goa around 2017 and had traveled between India and Ukraine before their⁢ separation.
