On August 30 Turkish police detained two drivers and seven road work supervisors during the metrobus accident that killed one and injured 53 in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul.
Two metro buses, which are Istanbul transit public transport buses, collided on August 29 on the D-100 highway. The impact caused the vehicles to veer off and crash into barriers. Following the collision, a number of fire, police and medical teams were sent to the scene.
Teams are sent to the scene of the accident.
The accident resulted in 53 people being injured, who were taken to nearby hospitals. Ferhat Uçar, 22 years old who was seriously injured, died in hospital.
The accident caused long traffic jams in both directions. The metrobus lane was closed, and passengers were directed to Marmaray and bus stops.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu expressed his sadness over the incident and wished condolences to the Uçar family through X. “Our comprehensive investigation into the accident continues,” he wrote.
