Nine Inch Nails and German electronic musician Boys Noize have announced a collaborative studio album titled Nine Inch Noize, scheduled for release on April 17, 2026. The project is designated as Halo 38 within the halo numbering system used by Nine Inch Nails for their discography.

The announcement follows a debut combined performance by the supergroup at the Coachella 2026 festival, where they played the Sahara stage on Saturday, April 11. The album was teased prior to the performance via billboards placed along the I-10 highway leading to Indio, California, and through a joint Instagram post from the artists.

Collaborative Background and Development

The album is the result of a multi-year creative partnership between Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Alex Ridha, known professionally as Boys Noize. The trio first collaborated in 2024 on a remix album of the score for the film Challengers, produced by Reznor and Ross.

This partnership extended to the Peel It Back tour, which ran from 2025 into 2026. During these arena shows, Boys Noize served as the opening act and joined the band on a smaller b-stage for DJ sets that featured electronic rearrangements of Nine Inch Nails songs, including Closer, Vessel, and Came Back Haunted.

The artists also worked together on the soundtrack for TRON: Ares in 2025, followed by the 2026 remix album TRON Ares: Divergence, which featured several edits by Boys Noize.

The creative fulfillment of working on the Challengers and TRON scores with Boys Noize led me to think that including him in the Peel It Back tour could be an interesting way to express NIN in more purely electronic terms live — a concept I’ve wanted to explore for some time. The result was so much fun for us we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way.
