Australian audiences can catch the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, as Nine network secured exclusive broadcast rights. The agreement ensures comprehensive coverage of the prestigious event, showcasing top swimming talent.
From July 11 to August 3, Nine will broadcast every race live and free. Viewers can tune in via the 9Network linear channel and the 9Now streaming platform to witness the action from Singapore.
The deal incorporates access to all swimming sessions featuring the Australian Dolphins team, including both preliminary heats and final competitions. This provides extensive coverage of Australia’s national team as they compete on the world stage in this major aquatics event.
Brent Williams, Nine’s director of sport, highlighted the popularity of the Australian Dolphins. He said the network looks forward to following their journey to Singapore, where athletes will build legacies and new champions will emerge at the World Aquatics Championships.
Dentsu,World Aquatics’ agency partner,brokered the agreement. Dentsu manages rights sales in Japan and select Asia-Pacific countries, including Australia.Sportfive handles global media rights sales for World Aquatics events in other markets.
Over 2,500 athletes from 210 national federations will compete across six disciplines: water polo, diving, artistic swimming, open water swimming, high diving, and swimming. Singapore stepped in to host the championships after Kazan, Russia, was stripped of the event hosting rights.
Competition venues include the Singapore Sports Hub, featuring the National Stadium, the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and the OCBC Aquatic Center. The decision to move the event makes Singapore the first Southeast Asian city to host the world Aquatics Championships.
