Gameplay Mechanics And Historical Context Of The New Lineup
Each of the three added games features distinct mechanics and backgrounds. Avenging Spirit is an action game where players control a ghost that possesses other characters across six stages to rescue a scientist’s kidnapped daughter from an evil syndicate. Mole Mania, produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, challenges players to guide Muddy Mole through puzzle stages by moving black balls, burrowing into soil, and defeating the farmer Jinbe in Jinbe Land. Revenge of the ‘Gator is a 1989 flippers title featuring four main stages, three bonus areas, and a dedicated Gator Stage where dropped balls end the turn. In Avenging Spirit, players can take over other characters to avenge their own death. Mole Mania includes a two-player VS Mode where players complete two rounds—one attacking as Muddy and one defending as Jinbe—competing based on the number of cabbages dropped, and players can also reunite Muddy Mole with his wife and kids. Revenge of the ‘Gator starts players with three balls and allows them to play solo in Gator 1Player mode to try for a spot in the top five highest scores, or play with a friend in Gator 2Players or Match Play mode.
