YOKOHAMA, Japan - Nissan Formula E Team has announced that Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato will continue to spearhead its challenge in the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, maintaining a stable and prosperous driver pairing. The decision follows a highly competitive Season 11, where the team secured third place in the Teams’ Championship – its best result as Nissan took full ownership of the operation.
Building on Championship Momentum
The team’s commitment to consistency aims to capitalize on the strong foundation laid in the 2024/25 season. By retaining both Rowland and Nato, Nissan hopes to foster continued development, both on and off the track, and build upon the positive momentum achieved throughout the previous campaign. This strategic move underscores Nissan’s ambition to challenge for all three championships in the upcoming season.
Rowland to Lead as Reigning Champion
Current Formula E World Champion, Oliver Rowland, will embark on his sixth season with Nissan Formula E Team, secured by a multi-year deal. The British driver delivered a stellar performance in season 11, claiming the Drivers’ Championship title with an extraordinary tally of three pole positions, seven podium finishes, and four race victories.
Rowland initially joined Nissan during its inaugural Formula E season (Season 5) and raced with the team for three years before returning ahead of Season 10. His immediate impact was evident, setting the stage for his championship-winning performance in Season 11.
Nato’s continued contribution
Norman Nato will continue as Rowland’s teammate for his third season with Nissan Formula E Team, and his second consecutive campaign alongside the reigning champion. The French driver,a proven race winner in the series, first joined the team in season 9,consistently scoring points and securing Nissan’s first podium finish under full ownership in Rome.
after a brief departure, Nato returned to partner Rowland, demonstrating consistent speed and securing a pole position in Miami. His experiance and growing synergy with Rowland are considered vital assets for the team.
Team Principal Highlights Stability and Ambition
“Following a very successful season, we’ve decided to maintain our driver line-up for Season 12,” stated Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of Nissan Formula E Team. “We’re keen to consolidate our operations as we look to further improve on the work carried out both on and off-track as we took full control of our operations in the sport. I am sure that the stability and consistency that we’ve built with both oli and Norman will help us continue our remarkable progression and fight for all three championships again next season.”
Driver Reactions
Oliver Rowland expressed his excitement about the multi-year extension: ”I’m thrilled to sign with Nissan Formula E Team on a multi-year deal, in what will be my sixth season with the squad. What we’ve managed to achieve following my return in 2023/24 has been remarkable. Since I came to Formula E, the team has felt like my home, and I have a high level of trust with them as well as plenty of support. The aim for Season 12 is to replicate and improve on what we did last campaign, but we certainly know how hard we need to work in the off-season to achieve the best results possible.”
Norman Nato echoed Rowland’s enthusiasm: ”I’m delighted to continue with Nissan Formula E Team for another season as it was always the target to extend my stay here. It’ll be my third campaign with the team and my second consecutive one, which gives me a lot of confidence moving forward. I still have plenty of areas to improve on, but I’m not starting from scratch this year so I can use factors I’ve learned in Season 11 to help me in the future. I’m sure Oli will perform at a very high level again and I’m positive that together we can fight for the Teams’ Championship.”
