AtlantiCare, Select Medical Partner for New Jersey Rehabilitation Hospital
GALLOWAY, N.J. – A new inpatient rehabilitation hospital is coming to Galloway Township, thanks to a joint venture between atlanticare and Select Medical. Leaders from both organizations, along with local officials, recently celebrated a construction milestone, marking progress on the facility slated to open in mid-2026. The beam-signing ceremony highlighted the collaboration between AtlantiCare, the largest health system in southeastern new Jersey, and Select Medical, a major provider of post-acute care.
The 60-bed hospital, featuring all private rooms, will be located one mile east of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Campus. This new rehabilitation hospital aims to improve access to specialized care for patients recovering from conditions such as stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputation, orthopedic trauma, and neurological disorders. The facility represents a important investment in rehabilitation services for the region.
“This hospital fills a critical need in our region. In partnership with Select Medical, we are creating a destination for high-quality rehabilitation care that patients and families can access right here at home,” said Michael Charlton, president and chief executive officer of AtlantiCare. “Too often,patients and families have had to leave the area to receive the care they need after a serious illness or injury. This new facility changes that experience by providing expert rehabilitation close to home, connected to our care teams and designed around each person’s unique recovery goals.”
The three-story hospital will employ a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The care team will include physiatrists,certified rehabilitation nurses,physical and occupational therapists,speech-language pathologists,respiratory therapists,case managers,dietitians,and other specialists,all working together to support each patient’s recovery.

The AtlantiCare Rehabilitation Hospital will be situated at bacharach Park, named in honor of the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation. The institute served the region for nearly a century, establishing a legacy of compassion and clinical excellence that paved the way for the advanced care now being offered by atlanticare and Select Medical.
