No. 16 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Cruises Past Queens 87-45

Lexington, KY – The No. 16 Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team delivered a dominant performance Monday night, cruising past Queens University 87-45 at Historic Memorial Coliseum.
Georgia Amoore led the charge for Kentucky, pouring in 20 points and dishing out four assists. Amelia Hassett, who surpassed the 1,000-point milestone for her career during the game, added a season-high 19 points. Sophomore Clara Strack chipped in 16 points, while Teonni Key recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Kentucky wasted no time establishing control, opening the game on a 12-0 run fueled by baskets from Hassett, Key, strack, and Amoore. The Wildcats continued to pour it on, extending their lead to 29-9 after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw more of the same, with Kentucky outscoring Queens 23-9. Hassett continued her hot shooting, connecting on three three-pointers in the period. Amoore led all scorers at halftime with 14 points.
Kentucky maintained its dominance in the second half, outscoring Queens 28-16 in the third quarter and 20-10 in the fourth.
“We came out with a lot of energy tonight and played really well as a team,” said Amoore. “it was great to see Amelia reach the 1,000-point mark. She’s a special player.”
The Wildcats will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday when they travel to Purdue for a 5 p.m. ET tip-off. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
