Dominant Performance Across All Pairs

Arizona’s success was built on consistent play across all five pairs. The Wildcats secured two matches in straight sets, demonstrating their ability to control the tempo and capitalize on opportunities. The remaining three matches went to three sets, showcasing the team’s resilience and ability to perform under pressure.

Key Matchups and Standout Performances

Brooke Boyko and Sadie Moore continued the momentum at the No. 5 position, securing a straight-set win with scores of 21-14 and 21-18. Their performance effectively clinched the overall victory for the Wildcats.

The No. 1 pair of Regan Holmer and Carlie Cisneros faced a tough challenge, ultimately prevailing in three sets with a scoreline of 23-21, 15-21, and 17-15. Their ability to navigate a closely contested match highlighted their experience and composure.

Tylee Shires and Adri Nieves Papaleo, as the No. 3 pair, completed the sweep with a thrilling three-set victory. They took the first set 21-14, dropped the second 25-27 in a tight contest, and then rallied to win the decisive third set 16-14. Their resilience and determination were instrumental in securing the clean sweep for Arizona.

Looking Ahead for the Wildcats

Arizona’s performance at the Sun Devil Classic demonstrates their potential as a competitive force in collegiate beach volleyball. The team will now travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to compete in the Mustang Roundup next Friday and Saturday, March 13-14. They are scheduled to face Cal Poly, CSUN, Santa Clara, and UC Davis, providing them with further opportunities to test their skills and build momentum.

The Mustang Roundup will be a crucial test as they aim to maintain their upward trajectory and establish themselves as a top contender in the national rankings.

Nebraska’s Weekend Recap

For Nebraska, the Sun Devil Classic presented a mixed bag of results. Their 3-2 victory over Southern Miss on Friday showcased their ability to compete against a solid opponent. However, the 5-0 loss to No. 8 Arizona State and the subsequent sweep by Arizona highlighted areas for improvement. The Huskers will look to regroup and refine their strategies as they continue their season.

The Huskers’ match against Southern Miss was a closely contested affair, with several matches going to three sets. Harper Murray and Andi Jackson, Keri Leimbach and Jayden Robinson, and Skyler Pierce and Laney Choboy all secured victories for Nebraska, while Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda of Southern Miss also claimed a point.
