McLaren’s Lando Norris secured pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will start from the back of the grid after a disastrous qualifying session.
Norris delivered a blistering lap to edge out teammate Oscar Piastri, securing a front-row lockout for McLaren. Carlos Sainz Jr. will start third for Ferrari, but Leclerc’s hopes for a strong finish where dashed after a technical issue hampered his qualifying run.
“It feels amazing,” Norris saeid after securing his second pole position of the season. “The car felt great all weekend, and we really put it all together in qualifying. its a fantastic result for the team.”
leclerc, who is battling for second place in the driver’s championship, expressed his disappointment but remained optimistic.
“It’s a tough situation to be in, starting from the back,” Leclerc admitted. “But we’ll give it everything we’ve got in the race. The goal is still to finish the season strong.”
The qualifying session saw a tight battle for the top spots, with several drivers setting impressive lap times. However, McLaren’s pace proved too much for the competition, with Norris and Piastri dominating the proceedings.
