After weeks of unrelenting heat, North India is bracing for respite. The India meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a shift in weather patterns, bringing much-needed relief from the extreme heatwave conditions.
the anticipated change promises cooler temperatures, increased cloud cover, and rainfall across several states. This shift is expected to substantially ease the impact of the scorching summer that has gripped the region.
Beginning Saturday, temperatures are expected to drop. Maximum temperatures are predicted to fall to around 106 degrees Fahrenheit, with minimums settling near 84 degrees. The cooling trend should intensify further on Sunday, with highs near 104 degrees and lows around 82 degrees, accompanied by thunderstorms and rain.
Delhi, which has been experiencing temperatures around 111 degrees, is also expected to see a noticeable dip. By Sunday or Monday, the daytime temperature in the national Capital could fall to approximately 104 degrees, with light rainfall and thunderstorm activity in some areas.
The IMD forecasts mostly cloudy skies across much of North India on Monday and Tuesday, with light to moderate rainfall likely in several regions, further improving weather conditions and providing heatwave relief.
Despite the approaching relief, the IMD has issued alerts for some areas. Punjab and Haryana remain under a Red Alert for the next two days due to persistent heat and possible thunderstorms. Rajasthan, under a Red Alert on Friday, shifts to an Orange Alert for the weekend. Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are under Orange Alerts through the weekend.
Authorities urge residents to continue taking precautions, staying indoors during peak heat hours, remaining hydrated, and monitoring official weather updates regularly.
