North Korean Soldiers in Mariupol
North Korean troops are present in Mariupol. Their purpose as “technical advisors” remains unclear. These soldiers wear Russian military uniforms, but they operate separately from Russian units.
An anonymous source stated that North Koreans have their own quarters, food, music, and movies. They interact minimally with Russian forces.
North Korean soldiers have also been sighted in the Kharkiv region. Jevhen Romanov, a representative from a combined military unit in Kharkiv, confirmed their presence through intercepted radio communications.
Romanov noted, “They organize into units and strengthen their combat teams. They gather a small number of forces near the front line.” He added that the North Koreans are waiting for worsening weather conditions, which are ideal for enemy attacks.
An SBU source reported recent Ukrainian missile strikes targeting a high-ranking North Korean general. It is currently unknown whether he was killed in the attack.
