Northern Kentucky University Sets Record with 92% Graduation Success Rate
Northern Kentucky University Achieves Record Graduation Rates
Northern Kentucky University (NKU) has set a new record for Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and Federal Graduation Rate (FGR). According to the NCAA’s latest report, NKU’s GSR is now 92%, up four points from last year’s 88%. This rate ties NKU for the third highest GSR among Division I schools in Kentucky. The FGR stands at 72%, which is the highest among Kentucky schools by seven points.
All sports programs at NKU scored at or above the national average in either GSR, FGR, or both, with every program achieving a GSR above 80%. Sarah Pruess, the Senior Associate Athletics Director, expressed pride in the students’ commitment to their academic success.
Three programs—men’s golf, women’s golf, and women’s tennis—achieved a perfect 100% in both GSR and FGR. Men’s and women’s cross country/track and field also exceeded the national average in both measures. Women’s basketball matched the perfect 100 GSR, while men’s basketball earned an 89, above the national average.
A total of eight programs, split evenly between men’s and women’s teams, surpassed the national average in GSR.
These statistics reflect the graduation rates of student-athletes who began college in 2017. The NCAA has monitored GSR for over 20 years and publicly shares its results annually.
