Awaiting Trial: The Accusations Against Marius Borg Hoiby
marius borg Hoiby, 28, the stepson of Crown Prince haakon of Norway and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is set to stand trial on 32 separate charges. These accusations include four counts of rape, domestic violence, recording unauthorized images of women, police harassment, and traffic violations. The trial is scheduled to begin early next year and is expected to last approximately six weeks, potentially resulting in a sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment if convicted of the most serious offenses.
Details of the Allegations
Prosecutors allege that Hoiby raped four women between 2018 and November 2024, with the alleged assaults occurring while the women were asleep. Furthermore, it is claimed that Hoiby secretly recorded these women during the incidents. Norwegian television star Linni Meister has also filed a complaint, alleging she was raped while unconscious in 2018, with the incidents reportedly linked to parties known as the ”Skaugum Festival” where alcohol and drugs were allegedly prevalent.

Legal response and defense
Hoiby’s lawyers,Petar Sekulic and Ellen Holager Burenas,have stated that their client rejects the rape and most of the violence charges. He was initially detained for a week in November 2024 and later received treatment at rehabilitation centers, even being disguised while in Copenhagen. Despite his connection to the Royal Family,Norwegian State Prosecutor Sturla Henriksbo emphasized that there will be no privilege
in the case,asserting that violence leaves lasting scars and destroys lives. the Royal Palace has affirmed that the court will independently evaluate and decide the case, clarifying that Hoiby does not hold a royal title or position in the line of succession.
Acknowledging Past Struggles
Hoiby has publicly acknowledged struggling with psychological issues and substance addiction sence childhood. He stated,I do not excuse what I have done,but I take obligation,I will cooperate with the police.
This admission of responsibility, while not an admission of guilt, suggests a willingness to engage with the legal process.
