The two teams previously met at Soldier Field in chicago in 2021 as part of the same scheduling agreement. Notre Dame won that neutral-site contest 41-13.
The rescheduled game was initially planned for Sept. 5, 2026, but was moved to avoid conflicting with the NFL season, which begins the following week. Notre Dame will open two consecutive seasons with Sunday games, starting with a match against Miami on aug. 31, 2025.
