Amy Love and Georgia South, the musicians comprising Nova twins, put their unique spin on the track, transforming the hip-hop infused original into a rock anthem. The “Anxiety” cover highlights the band’s ability to blend genres and push creative boundaries, offering a fresh take on Doechii’s popular song.
In addition to “Anxiety,” Nova Twins recorded a new version of their song “Piranha,” which will be featured on their upcoming album, ‘Parasites & butterflies,’ slated for release Aug. 29 via Marshall Records. The album promises a diverse range of sounds, reflecting the duo’s experimental approach to music.
“Doechii is such a visionary, whose creativity is really pushing things forward,” the band said. “When we were choosing a track to cover, ‘Anxiety’ stood out because it’s already been flipped, which made it more of a challenge. We wanted to push ourselves and step outside our comfort zone.”
Doechii’s original version of “Anxiety” gained traction after its initial YouTube release in 2019. Sampling Gotye’s ”Somebody That I Used To Know,” the song went viral, leading to an official re-release in March. It achieved significant chart success, peaking at Number Nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and Number Three in the UK.
