Alcaraz rallied‍ to defeat Sinner 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(10-2) in a nearly​ five-hour Roland Garros final. Boulter’s subsequent⁤ post on X ignited a flurry of⁤ responses from Djokovic supporters who felt the statement overlooked the significance ​of‌ the⁤ Djokovic-Nadal rivalry.

Fans⁢ took to social media to express their disagreement. One ​X user stated‌ that someone ⁣surpassed the Fedal rivalry ​in 2011. Another described Boulter’s take as the “worst tennis take ever.”

Earlier in the week, Novak Djokovic’s run at the French Open concluded with a loss to Jannik Sinner in⁢ the semifinals. After the match, Djokovic acknowledged the crowd and suggested it might have ‍been his last appearance at Roland Garros.

⁣ “I mean, this‍ could have been the​ last match ​ever⁣ I played here, so ‍I don’t know. That’s why I was a bit more emotional ‌even in the end. But if this was the farewell match of the Roland Garros for me ​in my career,it was a⁣ wonderful one in terms of ​the atmosphere and what I got from the crowd,”⁣ Djokovic said.
