(Sejong = Yonhap News) Reporter Song Jeong-eun = The National Tax Service announced on the 4th that it will send interim prepayment tax payment notices to 1.49 million self-employed individuals with comprehensive income in November, the month of ‘comprehensive income tax interim prepayment’.

The interim prepaid tax amount is half of the comprehensive income tax amount for the previous tax period (attributable to 2023). The amount of tax paid will be deducted as the amount of tax already paid when filing the final comprehensive income tax return next year.

If the interim prepayment tax amount is less than KRW 500,000 or you are a new business operator, etc., you are excluded from the interim prepayment and no notice will be sent.

Businesses who have received a bill must pay it by the 2nd of next month.

The tax amount can be transferred to the account listed on the payment invoice, or paid with a credit card or simple payment through Hometax or Sontax, or directly to a financial institution.

If the interim prepaid tax amount exceeds 10 million won, part of the tax amount can be paid in installments from the day after the payment deadline (December 2) to February 3 of the next year.

In addition, taxpayers who are experiencing business difficulties due to damage from Timon or WeMakePrice, typhoons, or heavy rain disasters can extend the payment deadline by up to 9 months by submitting an ‘Application for Extension of Payment Deadline, etc.’ to Hometax or the tax office.
