For decades, World Photography Day has been a powerful reminder of how a single image can speak volumes, often conveying more than words ever could.Observed annually on August 19th,the day commemorates the invention of the daguerreotype,a groundbreaking photographic process developed in 1837. Since its inception, photography has evolved into an indispensable tool for storytelling, capturing moments, and preserving memories.To honor this notable day, NPR is calling on its readers to share the narrative behind their favorite photo. Whether it’s a breathtaking landscape, a candid portrait, or a moment that holds deep personal meaning, we wont to hear your story.
How to Share Your Favorite Photo:
NPR is providing a simple and accessible way for you to participate. You can submit your favorite photo, taken by you and unedited, along with its story, using the form provided. Additionally,you have the option to upload your photo directly or send a voice memo to accompany your written submission.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re eager to hear about the moments that matter most to you. Tell us what makes your favorite photo special.What emotions does it evoke? What memories does it bring back? What is the story behind the shot? Your personal connection to the image is what we’re most interested in.

Selected submissions will be featured in the Up First newsletter on August 17th. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your passion for photography and the stories that lie within your images with a wider audience.submission Deadline:
