NTF-ELCAC Slams Makabayan Bloc’s Impeachment Push Against VP Duterte
NTF-ELCAC Criticizes Makabayan Bloc’s Impeachment Stance, Citing Political Opportunism
MANILA – The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) has accused the Makabayan bloc in the House of Representatives of political opportunism in their response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for lawmakers to drop impeachment proceedings against Vice President sara Duterte.
The NTF-ELCAC, in a statement released Sunday, questioned the bloc’s dual approach of demanding accountability from the Vice President while criticizing the President for not supporting their impeachment push.
“Like a brat throwing a fit,Makabayan is angry that the person they seem to rely on is distancing himself from their agenda,” the NTF-ELCAC stated.
The task force argued that if the makabayan bloc genuinely seeks accountability, the President’s stance on the impeachment proceedings should be irrelevant. They further criticized the bloc for demanding legislative independence while simultaneously seeking executive validation for their actions.”Makabayan’s demand for legislative independence rings hollow when they simultaneously seek executive validation for their sinister crusade,” the statement read.
The NTF-ELCAC characterized President Marcos’ call for unity as a move to strengthen national stability, a goal they claim the Makabayan bloc actively undermines.
“this is, of course, on brand; the CPP (Communist Party of the Philippines) has always maintained capitalizing on political instability or factional disputes among ‘elites,’ viewing these divisions as chances to weaken their control and influence,” the NTF-ELCAC added.
The task force accused the Makabayan bloc, composed of ACT Teachers, Gabriela Women’s Party, Kabataan, Bayan Muna, and Anakpawis, of sowing distrust and division between branches of government, ultimately hindering effective governance.
“By sowing distrust and divisions between branches of government, the Makabayan bloc undermines the very institutions they claim to be a part of,” the statement concluded. “A stable political habitat is essential for effective governance, but their actions only deepen the fractures within the country’s political system.”
