NTPC Launches Girl empowerment Mission Summer Workshop 2025

NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, has initiated its Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Summer Workshop 2025 across its 41 stations nationwide.This Corporate Social duty (CSR) initiative aligns with the Indian goverment’s Beti Bachao, beti Padhao program, focusing on girl child education and empowerment.
Building on past successes, this year’s GEM program will host over 2,600 young girls from underprivileged backgrounds near NTPC power stations in 17 states. Approximately 10% of participants will be admitted into NTPC-run schools, with the company supporting their high school education.The Girl Empowerment Mission aims to provide thorough development opportunities during the month-long summer workshop.
the curriculum includes basic academics such as Hindi, English, mathematics, and environmental science, alongside computer literacy and practical sessions. Participants will also engage in activities like yoga, health and hygiene education, safety training, dance, theater, sports, and public speaking. Industrial visits and motivational lectures from prominent figures will further inspire the young participants.
The primary goal of the GEM initiative is to foster confidence and create a supportive environment for learning essential life skills among girls from disadvantaged communities. It also seeks to promote gender equality by encouraging young girls to pursue their dreams and explore their potential through the Girl Empowerment Mission.
launched as a pilot project in 2018 at three locations with 392 participants, the GEM initiative has since expanded into a national movement.To date,the girl empowerment Mission has provided life-changing opportunities to over 12,700 young girls across 17 states.
Participants in the program have demonstrated increased independence and self-confidence, empowered by a strong “can-do” attitude. The Girl Empowerment Mission has helped them discover their interests, develop their skills, and broaden their capabilities.

NTPC aims to continue expanding the GEM Workshop,equipping more girls with essential tools for a brighter future. The company seeks to empower girls to become agents of change, positively impacting their families, communities, and the nation.
